August Activities – Too many fun choices!

There is no shortage of things to do this August in the Willamette Valley! We are in full swing with summer, and there are so many fun activities. It’s honestly hard to choose from since there are so many. If you’re in the mood to get your groove on with music, you’re in luck. There is music happening all over. And, the festivals, of course, are also going strong. A good amount of the events are family-friendly, but there are also others that may be more for the 21 and over crowd as well. Either way, you will most likely be able to find at least one of these August activities that piques your interest. Here’s a low-down on all the awesome events happening this month!

August Activities

First off, Silverton is booming, and we aren’t just talking on the microphone. On August 6, is the Homer Davenport Community Festival. This celebrates famed cartoonish, Homer Davenport. There will also be music featuring Syco Billy. On August 12, we have more awesome music playing at the Ratchet Brewery by the Dylan Santiago Band. And, if you’re a big fan of that band, it’s okay, there is an opportunity to see them another time on August 18 at the Oregon Garden Fireside Lounge. In addition to this, we have the art scene. Some of these include the Oregon Crafters Market from August 20-21, the Silverton Arts Festival on August 20, and The Galarage art exhibition on August 20. Now, that’s just Silverton!

In Salem we’ve got the Riverfront Family Fest on August 6, Salem On Tap Brewfest – Portland Cider Company on August 19, the NW Native American Flute Celebration as well as Fishfest on August 20. Followed up by the Utopia Music and Arts Festival. Of course, we can’t forget about the awesome Oregon State Fair that starts on August 26, with musical guests like Shaggy. Keizer also has some fun stuff happening including KeizerFest starting on August 11. At Keizerfest, there will also be music by The FlexTones on August 13.

Now, if you’re thinking the backdrop of a rodeo may be more your jam, then think no further than Molalla. There, Gerardo Ortiz is playing at the Molalla Fairgrounds on August 7. In addition to that, there is a fun Watermelon Crawl called Move those Melons happening on August 6. As you can tell, this is just the tip of the snow cone as far as summer goes. We hope you have a safe, relaxing, and fun rest of the summer! We love all these local activities that are offered in the gorgeous Willamette Valley that we call home.
